Chevy Service Tips: Dealing with Windshield Cracks

Chevy service
The more you drive, the more your car wears down. While most wear and tear is subtle, sometimes it hits your car like a ton of bricks. Or, more specifically, like a rock smashing into your windshield while you’re on the highway. If this has happened to you, our Chevy service center has some tips.

Why a Cracked Windshield Needs Attention

If you have a small crack or ding in your windshield, you may not think it’s a big deal. And, you’re probably right. However, there’s a good chance that it will only get worse. When, for example, the temperature drops and moisture gets into the fracture, expanding ice can make the situation worse. A cracked windshield is also more likely to shatter if you are involved in an accident.

Should You Repair or Replace a Cracked Windshield?

The nice thing about treating a small crack early is that it may be able to be fixed pretty easily. If it’s small – about three inches or less – there’s a good chance it can be repaired. The process involves using a vacuum to remove any debris or moisture and then filling the crack with resin. This is typically a permanent solution. For cracks longer than three inches or chips bigger than a quarter, the recommendation will probably be a new windshield. In addition to improving safety, a cracked windshield – especially if it’s impairing the vision of the driver – most likely wouldn’t be able to pass an annual inspection.

What Is New on the Redesigned 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Pickup

The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is not a refresh — Chevrolet has rebuilt it from the frame up. Phelps Chevrolet in Greenville, NC, has fielded steady questions about it since the redesign was first announced. Here is a breakdown of what actually changed. Four Engines, Four Different Jobs Four distinct powertrains anchor the redesigned lineup: an enhanced 2.7-liter TurboMax™ engine, the segment-exclusive 3.0-liter Duramax® Turbo-Diesel, a next-generation 5.7-liter V8, and an all-new 6.6-liter V8 that Chevrolet calls the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class. Every engine pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and 4WD trims add the Z71 Off-Road Package as standard. Screens That Take Over the Dash A 16.3-inch standard touchscreen and a 12.2-inch digital driver display anchor every 2027 cabin, and ZR2 and High Country trims add an 11.5-inch front passenger display and a Head-Up Display. Available dual wireless charging rounds out higher trims. Hands-Free Capability That Covers Towing Unlike most hands-free systems, Super Cruise® on the Chevrolet Silverado now covers trailering, too, which Chevrolet notes makes it the only full-size pickup with hands-free trailering assistance. High Country and ZR2 include Super Cruise standard, while other trims offer it as an available option. Off-Road Hardware Across Three Trims A 2-inch factory lift and 34-inch mud-terrain tires come standard on Custom Trail Boss and Trail Boss, while ZR2 pushes further with a 2-inch lift, 35-inch tires, and locking differentials front and rear. The available ZR2 Bison Edition adds AEV bumpers, rocker protection, and underbody skid plates. Learn More About the 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 at Phelps Chevrolet The 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 covers a wider range of jobs than any Chevrolet Silverado before it, from daily driving to serious towing. Phelps Chevrolet works with drivers throughout Greenville, NC, to match the right configuration to your needs.

What Is the Chevy Tahoe Premier Package?

Shoppers at Phelps Chevrolet often ask, “ What is the Chevy Tahoe Premier package?” It's a fair question, since Chevrolet lists Premier as a trim level, not a stand-alone package. The real question is whether stepping up to Premier trim is worth it, so here is what you stand to gain. Comfort That's Standard Instead of Optional The clearest reason to choose Premier trim over RST is what comes standard instead of optional. Heated and ventilated front seats are exclusive to Premier trim and above, a real step up from the heated-only seats on lower trims. Heated second row seats and a power-sliding center console are standard, too. Extra Security, Not Just Extra Comfort Premier trim also unlocks the available Advanced Security Package, adding an interior movement sensor, inclination sensor, and glass breakage sensor, none offered below Premier trims. That is worth considering for anyone who parks on the street or leaves the Chevy Tahoe unattended often. Super Cruise®, GM's hands-free driving system, is also available. Who Premier Trim Actually Makes Sense For Premier trim fits families who regularly carry rear passengers and want rear heated seats standard. It also suits anyone who values the extra security sensors or wants Super Cruise without needing everything High Country offers. If your routine does not touch those features, RST may serve you just as well. Test Drive the 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe Premier Trim in Greenville, NC The 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe Premier trim earns its place by making comfort and security features standard that other trims only offer as options. It suits families who want a noticeably nicer daily experience without stepping up to High Country. Phelps Chevrolet in Greenville, NC can help you compare Premier, RST, and High Country side by side.
