Chevy EV Charging Cost

Are you ready to buy an electric car like a Chevy EV model? You won’t regret it, as you’ll immediately save a lot of money on fuel. And while you will never need to buy gas, you must keep your car’s battery charged. This guide will help you figure out how much this will cost you.

Using a Home Charger

Even before you pick up your electric vehicle, you need to ensure that your home is ready, which means having a charging station put in. And in order to determine how much charging your battery will cost you, find your electric bill and look for the kWh, which is the kilowatt-hour of electricity used.

An EV gets three to four miles per kWh. To find out what you’ll pay every month, take an estimate of the number of miles you drive and divide by three. Then take that amount and multiply it by your cost per kWh. This is your monthly “fuel” bill.

Using a Public Charger

At some point, you will probably need to use a public charging station to juice up your car’s battery. Because rates can vary with these, it’s a little more difficult figuring out how much it costs. If you can find a specific network’s cost per kWh, using the same calculation above will get you a ballpark estimate. It’s wise to use any number of apps that will let you find the closest – and cheapest – charging stations to your home or place of business.
