With daylight starting to fade earlier, it won’t be long now before many of us have to drive home from work in darkness. As we get deeper into the fall, we may also have to deal with rainstorms, slippery roads, and falling temperatures, so it’s time for the necessary Chevrolet service you may have been putting off. The Phelps Chevrolet team offers this brief guide to the essentials.

Bulb Replacement

Whether early in the morning or evening, you must ensure that you always have sufficient illumination when driving. If you have a bulb out in a headlight, be sure to get it replaced. Also, if your light covers have gotten cloudy, consider having them cleaned.

Tire Pressure Check

Did you know that the air pressure in your tires fluctuates with temperature changes? Now that temperatures are dropping, you should have your tires checked to make sure they are at the right level. Underinflated tires are especially hazardous, as they affect traction and handling. They are also bad for your fuel economy.

Battery Test

Car batteries generally only last between three and five years. If yours is older, you’ll want to have it tested before the weather gets colder, as older batteries can struggle in cold temperatures. Having it tested now allows you to be proactive and get maintenance or a replacement if necessary.

Windshield Wiper Replacement

With more precipitation to deal with, you have to be confident that you will always have excellent visibility. If your wipers are cracked or worn, consider installing a replacement set from our Chevy parts department.
