If you’re out driving and suddenly realize that one of your tires has been punctured, you don’t have to panic. While you can certainly call your auto club to come bail you out, you don’t have to do this either. Our Chevrolet service center put together this guide that will help you easily change your flat tire.

The Tools You Need

You only need three tools to change a flat tire:

  • Jack
  • Lug wrench
  • Spare tire

Once you get all of these out, it’s time to get to work.

Change Your Tire in Just a Few Steps

Getting your flat tire changed is probably a lot easier than you realize. First, loosen the lug nuts with the lug wrench but don’t take them off completely. Now, jack up the car several inches by putting the jack under a strong section of your car’s frame and turning the handle counterclockwise.

Next, take off lug nuts. Then, line up the holes with the good tire and put the lug nuts back on. Finally, turn the jack handle counter-clockwise to lower the car and tighten the lug nuts with a lug wrench.

Be Sure to Get Another Spare

If your spare tire is a temporary donut, it’s important to get a new tire to replace that as soon as you can. Even if your new tire is a full-size one, it’s vital to restock your vehicle with a spare, as you never know when you’ll next need it.

Whatever type of tire you need for your car, Phelps Chevrolet in Greenville get can it for you. Plus, we can put it on for you if necessary, and also replace any of the others that may be worn out. Contact us to make an appointment.
